The best thing to keep in mind is what is best for your baby. What you choose to purchase should all be beneficial to your baby by providing basic needs, developmental assistance and safety. There are some mandatory baby gear purchases that require much thought and planning ahead.

One of the largest things your must purchase in preparation for your child is a car seat. There are four basic guide lines to follow when it comes to car seats, it is important that you know them when purchasing a car seat. First, your car seat must be able to be attached securely to your vehicle by a corner seat belt. Secondly, your car seat must have buckles securing your new born in at the waist, legs and chest. Third, your car seat must allow your new born to fit in comfortably but also securely. Lastly your car seat must be able to attach facing backwards. Following all of these guide lines insures your child will be as safe as possible.

Another large and important purchase for your newborn is a crib. Your child will spend much of their time in their crib, it should be safe and sturdy. Many cribs are designed with bars, you want to make sure your baby is not able to get stuck in any part of the crib. It is also important for your crib to be durable. Though your newborn weighs less then 10 lbs. now, they grow quickly and like to shake and kick things. A crib your bed your child for its first few years so your crib needs to hold your child safely. With that in mind it is also important that your crib is designed in such a way that your child can not fall or climb out of it.

Clothes are essential baby gear items that must be purchased. You must be prepared with different sizes before your baby is born.
